Osteria Locatelli: A Culinary Journey
Located in the Sainsbury Wing of the National Gallery, moments from Trafalgar Square and the National Portrait Gallery, we invite you to step off the busy streets and into a warm, relaxed space where food is celebrated and shared. Whether you’re joining us for a quick bite, a long lunch, or an espresso downstairs at Bar Giorgio, every detail reflects our passion for good food and Italian tradition.
Our menu reflects the best of Italy’s regions, from Lombardy to Sicily. We work closely with trusted suppliers to source seasonal produce, cured meats, cheeses, and olive oils, always focusing on quality and sustainability.
Pasta is handmade daily. Sauces are slow-cooked. And every dish is designed to bring the comforting, familiar feeling of an Italian kitchen to the heart of London.
At the helm is Giorgio Locatelli, one of the UK’s most respected Italian chefs. Before opening here, Giorgio spent over two decades at Locanda Locatelli, his Michelin-starred restaurant in Marylebone, and has since become a familiar face on British television as a judge on Celebrity MasterChef UK, alongside bestselling books including Made in Italy and Made in Sicily. That same instinct for honest, regional Italian cooking now finds an unexpected but fitting home inside one of the world’s great art museums, a pairing few restaurants in London can offer.
A Warm Welcome Awaits
Dining at Osteria Locatelli is rooted in conviviality: shared tables, raised glasses and stories passed through generations. Our team is here to make every visit feel special, whether you’re stopping by after a visit to the National Gallery or making a day of it around Trafalgar Square.
From seasonal dishes and carefully chosen wines to the music playing softly in the background, everything is designed to feel relaxed, welcoming and effortlessly Italian.
