The doors are open and the tables are set. Locatelli at the National Gallery, the new restaurant by Giorgio and Plaxy Locatelli in partnership with Searcys, is welcoming guests to dine within the beautifully reimagined Sainsbury Wing, just off Trafalgar Square.
With 80 seats in the main dining room and 30 more at the bar, we’re open daily throughout gallery hours – with Friday evenings running later – serving seasonal Italian dishes, classic cocktails, and the kind of warm, generous hospitality you’d expect in any Italian home.
Fridays: 10am to 10:30pm (last booking 9pm)
Saturdays: 10am to 8:30pm (last booking 7pm)
Sundays: 10am to 6pm (last booking 4:45pm)
From Antipasti to Dolci – Menus Inspired by the Italian Table
Led by Executive Chef Imma Savinelli, our kitchen draws on the flavours of Southern Italy, where food is rooted in family, seasonality and soul. Begin with antipasti, then move through freshly made pasta like pappardelle with broad beans, pecorino and rocket, or braised veal ravioli with gremolata and Parmigiano.
For mains, you’ll find comforting classics like roast chicken alla cacciatora with polenta, or ribeye steak served with aubergine, red onion and cherry tomatoes. To finish, take your time over one of our house dolci — a generous spoonful of tiramisu, a lemon and mascarpone cake, or a delicate custard and fruit tart.
Wines and Cocktails, All Italian
Our drinks list celebrates the best of Italy – from elegant Franciacorta to rich reds from Marche. The wine list, curated by Martin Dibben and Virgilio Gennaro, features some of our favourite producers: Broglia, Umani Ronchi, Ca’ del Bosco.
You’ll also find cocktails crafted in collaboration with some of Italy’s leading bartenders. Try the Adonisas from Simone Caporale of Sips (Barcelona), or La Scuderia by Alessandro Belometti of Bar Termini. For something personal, Giorgio’s own signature Negroni is stirred simply with Tanqueray, Campari and Carpano Antica Formula.
Bar Giorgio: For Coffee, Pastries and Maritozzi
Downstairs, Bar Giorgio offers a slower rhythm. Pop in for a proper Italian espresso or take a seat and enjoy our maritozzi, soft Roman brioche buns filled with both sweet and savoury favourites. Choose burrata and mortadella with pistachio, or go sweet with Chantilly cream and pistachio custard.
Coffee is roasted by Kofee and selected by Marco Arrigo of Bar Termini – smooth, balanced and unmistakably Italian.
