Giorgio Locatelli is one of the UK’s most respected Italian chefs. Born in northern Italy, Giorgio grew up in a family of restaurateurs and began his culinary career working at their Michelin-starred restaurant. After training in top kitchens in London and Paris, he opened his first Michelin-starred restaurant in London in the late 1990s.
Giorgio brings his passion for regional Italian cooking to Locatelli at the National Gallery. Located in the heart of Trafalgar Square, this new Italian restaurant celebrates the best seasonal ingredients, handmade pastas, and the warmth of Italian hospitality — all in one of London’s most iconic cultural landmarks.
Giorgio is also known for his role as a judge on MasterChef Italia, his BBC series Italy Unpacked, and his bestselling cookbooks including Made in Italy and Made in Sicily.

Plaxy Locatelli is the co-founder and driving force behind the success of Giorgio Locatelli’s restaurant ventures. With a background in hospitality and a sharp eye for design, branding, and guest experience, she has played a key role in building some of London’s most respected Italian restaurants.
Today, Plaxy brings her vision and creativity to Locatelli at the National Gallery, the couple’s newest opening in Trafalgar Square. Overseeing every element from interiors to service, she ensures that every guest feels at home — whether they’re stopping in for a quick lunch or a celebratory dinner in one of London’s most iconic settings.
